COBALT
- Literary Salon Launch

Liberty&Cole Events in
association with the Balmoral Hotel is launching a cutting-edge literary salon
in the world's first UNESCO City of Literature, Edinburgh. COBALT will kick off
at the Balmoral Bar on Thursday 19 March at 7pm. There are four writers
spearheading the programme and entry is free.

Hosting will be Damian
Barr, a journalist for The Times and a social trend predictor who wrote the first UK book on the
quarterlife crisis phenomenon, Get
It Together: Surviving Your Quarterlife Crisis
. He'll be talking to
contemporary writers David Nicholls, Laura Lockington and Martel Maxwell. The
authors will discuss their work and there will be an opportunity for questions
from the audience. There will also be books for sale and an author signing after
the event.

The line-up
is:

David Nicholls
is the BAFTA nominated writer of feature film Starter for Ten (his first novel),
television series Cold Feet and
Blake Morrison's And
When Did You Last See Your Father?
. His second novel was
The Understudy and he'll be
reading from his new novel One
Day
, which is set in Edinburgh.

Playwright
Laura Lockington's most recent novel Cupboard Love: A Food Romance was
described by Aldo Zilli as "Perfect
for the kitchen or bedside table!" and is an humorous exploration
of good taste, life and love. Laura will be spicing up her reading with a cheeky
taste of her sauce vierge.

Martel Maxwell
is a media pundit,
journalist and broadcaster who has been writing fiction for some time. She has
contributed to The Best Day Of My
Life
and recently had her first novel signed by
Penguin.

COBALT is free but
ticketed. COBALT's next programme will be announced
