La Fête de la Musique returns to celebrate the start
of summer with over 20 gigs of various genres of music at the Institut Français
d'Ecosse, 13 Randolph
Crescent, Edinburgh
Society of Musicians 3 Belford
Road and in the Ainslie Place gardens. Performers include
Rieser, Miyagi, Simon Kempston, Tristan Le Govic, Red2Red, Who's your
mama now?, Missing cat, and many others.

Jean de La Fontaine's short stories fired the
imagination of French artist and primary teacher Arnaud Eveno (1960-2008). More
than thirty illustrations reveal the artist's passion for animals and
costumes.

Laurence Grove is Senior Lecturer, Head of French and
Director of the Centre for Emblem Studies at the University of Glasgow. 
On the occasion of the exhibition at the Institut Français d'Ecosse of
watercolours and drawings by Arnaud Eveno, he will talk in English about
illustrations of La Fontaine's Fables from the 17th - 21st centuries.

Chris Tinker from Heriot-Watt University
will discuss some of the most significant English language versions of Jacques
Brel's songs and how they serve to highlight the specific qualities of
French "chanson".

L'HEURE DU CONTE

Tania Czajka is French. With her puppet company Le Petit Monde, she tells stories about a
