"Stramash" - a new event aimed at visitors, showcasing Scottish Traditional Music

"Great!  An event showcasing our musical culture that both visitors and locals can enjoy"
 - Mairi Campbell, Scots Trad Singer of the Year 2007

Taking place every Thursday from June 18 to July 23 is a new show which aims to introduce visitors to the wonderful heritage of song and music that we are so lucky to have in Scotland.

The organisers are great enthusiasts for our music and have long felt that it was a challenge for visitors to experience the traditional music that has such a strong following amongst Scots.

The show itself will be a mixture of song and music, including bagpipes, fiddle and many styles of song, from Burns to Matt McGinn.  The emphasis will be firmly on entertainment, with the performers also explaining a little of the background to the music.

The musicians which we've brought together for the show are themselves immersed in today's traditional music and regularly perform.

We believe that not only will the show itself be a great experience, but the cost (£5 - £7), timings (6:45pm and 8:30pm, lasting 70 minutes) and venue (Augustines - just off the Royal Mile) make it a very practical option.
