invites submissions for a new
Competition for Young Composers
Composers
aged between 16yrs and 24yrs are invited to present an original piece
of music lasting approximately 10 minutes suitable for:
a) solo clàrsach, or
b) clàrsach and up to 3 other instruments
Please submit scores in manuscript and CD form before 31st October 2009 to: The Hon Secretary, The Clarsach Society, 11 Granby Road, Edinburgh EH16 5NH. Submissions received will be given a unique reference no. and forwarded anonymously to the panel of judges.
Prize
a) £500
b) Premier performance of winning entry at 29th Edinburgh International Harp Festival 2010.
In
addition to the winning entry and at the discretion of the judges, more
than one composition may be presented at the Edinburgh International
Harp Festival.
The Clàrsach Society gratefully acknowledges the support of

who have generously donated the prize money for this competition.

Young Composers' Competition Rules.
1. Closing date for entries is October 31st 2009. No late entries will be accepted.
2. The work must be the unaided work of the entrant.
3. A separate page with the composer's name and address should be submitted with the manuscript and CD. The composer's name should not be written at any point on the manuscript or
CD.
4. The copyright of the music shall remain with the composer.
5. The cost of the premier performance only will be met by EIHF.
6. All copies shall be returned to the composer.
7. The judges' decision shall be final.
