PRESS RELEASE - 8 July 2009 Nonsenseroom Productions

  • New
    Venue for Midlothian Company
  • Homecoming
celebration of the life of Robert Burns
  • Fun new kids
adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island

Midlothian's own Theatre Company, Nonsenseroom Productions, are
pleased to announce they have a new home for this year's Fringe.  Having been resident at Rosslyn Chapel for
the last 6 years we are excited to be moving on for Fringe 2009.  Due to the ongoing restoration works at the Chapel,
we have taken up residency in another of Midlothian's famous landmarks - The Scottish Mining Museum at
Newtongrange.

Bruce Strachan, Artistic Director, said:  "We are really looking forward to working at
the Mining Museum this year.  The Old Powerhouse is a dramatic setting for
this year's shows and Families are able to enjoy a fascinating visit to his
wonderful tourist attraction, whilst enjoying some top-class theatre."

In keeping with the Homecoming celebrations Nonsenseroom
are celebrating 2 of Scotland's most famous literary sons.  Robert Burns and Robert Louis Stevenson.

Ae Fond Kiss is the story of Burns' life as told by
the man himself.  Burns takes you through
key events of his life with a quirky commentary and renditions of some famous
poems and songs.  With live music every
night it is a great way to get to know more about Scotland's Bard and his work.

Treasure Island is swash buckling family adventure for kids of all
ages.  Narrated by your puppet guide Jim
Hawkins this family oriented adventure is based on the novel by Robert Lois
Stevenson.  Featuring some exhilarating
sword play and many of the characters from the original story it is a great
show for all the family.

Bruce Strachan said:
"Both these shows are inspired by great Scotsmen and in this year of
homecoming they are great way of celebrating Scotland's heritage and history in an engaging,
entertaining and informative way"

As in previous years Nonsenseroom are also offering
an exciting ‘Golden Ticket' event on Saturday 29th August.  For the final performance the audience is
offered a private guided tour of the museum, before watching the show which is
followed by a drinks and buffet reception.

You can follow the progress of the company with Blogs
from the cast and crew and a video pod-cast on their website www.nonsenseroom.co.uk
