Fringe Comedians play Hibs Girl's Football Team for Charity

FRINGE COMEDIANS IN
CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH AGAINST HIBS UNDER 17's GIRLS TEAM

In support of The Junction

On August 9th, at Meadowbank stadium, Hibs
under-17's Girls football team's most important match of the season
will take place against this years Free Festival
XI, a team comprised of comedians taking part in this year's Edinburgh
Fringe Festival.

Following last year's match, where the
comedians heroically lost the game 6-5,  the comedians will be looking to
secure an unlikely triumph this year, following twelve months of training that
has involved late nights in comedy clubs, cigarettes, beer and not a lot of
running.

This year the match will taking place to raise money
and awareness for ‘The Junction' (www.the-junction.org), a local charity
that supports young people in Leith and North
East Edinburgh aged 12-21, and offers health related services, advice and
support. They are a small, local charity that are often overlooked by events
like this and were chosen by the comedians as the charity to support because of
the close links with the game and the local area, and also as the match is
against a team of talented young people.

The comedians taking part all have shows at the Fringe, most
of them as part of the Laughing Horse's Free Festival organisation:
Captain Nik Coppin, Nick Wilty, Dan Willis, Donald Mack, Tony Cowards, Daniel
Sloss, Demitris Deech, Nathan Caton, Manos The Greek, Tony Jameson, Darren
Croft (aka Fred Spanner), Christopher Forbes, Cameron Blair, Rob Coleman, Sully
O'Sullivan and Ged Butcher, with Free Festival organiser Alex Petty as team
manager.

Hibs Girls this year will be managed by Edinburgh based comedian
Jojo Sutherland, who is appearing in her solo show at the Stand during the
Fringe, and who's daughter Ciara is the Hibs girls captain.

This year the Free Festival
has over 230 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, from August 6th to 30th,
and every show is free entry to the public - at the end of each
performance audiences are asked to give what they think the show is worth to
the performers in a collection.  All of the comedians taking part in the
football match will be donating all of part of their shows collection from
August the 9th to The Junction, and the support that Laughing Horse,
the Free Festival and it's performers has for The Junction will continue
throughout the Fringe, with a number of other Free Festival shows donating
their collections, as well as there being other fundraising activities and
promotion of the Junction throughout the Fringe.
