Call For Artists:Peer Group Members

CALL FOR ARTISTS: PEER GROUP MEMBERS
Deadline: Sunday 9 May 2010, 5pm

New Work Network www.newworknetwork.org.uk and artist Siân Robinson Davies are developing an opportunity to support a new Peer Group in Edinburgh. The group will comprise artists with an interest in responding to and making work in the public spaces of the city.

The aim of the Peer Group is to facilitate a series of support and development meetings consisting of workshops, interventions, research trips and discussions. The group will investigate Edinburgh’s public spaces and aim to ask, how can we engage with the city and its social environments to consider new ways of working? Each meeting will aim to investigate a different aspect of the city, looking at ideas around surveillance, social behaviours and public/private space.

The Peer Group will look to do the following:
Meet twice a month for an initial four months from May to August (a total of seven meetings).
Facilitate the exchange of skills and information and support further research.
Create opportunities to make new work.
Offer the time to get to know one another’s working methods in order to offer in depth critical feedback on each other’s practice.

Practitioners from any discipline are welcome to apply. As the project is interested in bringing together live and interdisciplinary ways of responding to public spaces, an interest in the process of intervention, participation, site responsive practice and/or working collectively is essential.

The programme idea has been developed by NWN member Siân Robinson Davies with the intention that the activity will be designed through group discussion in relation to the interests of the group members. Therefore participants should have an idea about the kind of support that they may be looking for and be willing to take an active part in decision-making with the possibility of leading a meeting’s activities.
The peer group is open to both current members and non-members of New Work Network.
For any further information or if you have any queries, please contact Siân at [email protected]
