Gilded Balloon reveal the Line up for their 25th Anniversary shows

A HOST OF COMEDY SUPERSTARS REVEALED FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS

 
Johnny Vegas, Jo Brand, Tim Minchin and many more return home to the Gilded Balloon!
 
 
Fifteen of the world’s biggest names in comedy including Johnny Vegas, Jo Brand and Tim Minchin will return to the trailblazing venue that is the Gilded Balloon to round off a month of birthday celebrations with three 25th Anniversary Shows (27th, 28th, 29th August). The comedy institution that has given so many their first stage and taste of success is widely regarded as home to many and how better to celebrate than with the cream of the Gilded Balloon’s friend’s and performers that have passed through its doors over the last 25 years. Profits from all of the shows will be donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre on behalf of Jim Sweeney.
 
Larger than life comedian Johnny Vegas will bound onto the stage no doubt with a Guinness in hand and a barrage of jokes lined up for the crowds. He first appeared at the Gilded Balloon in 1995 as a finalist of So You Think You’re Funny? and returned in 1997 with his first solo show paving the way for him to become the well loved, award winning, actor, entertainer and household name he is today.  The sharp tongued yet humorously compassionate Jo Brand has come a long way since her days as a psychiatric nurse in South London and this legendary Edinburgh venue provided the perfect jumping off point back in 1989for what has gone onto be a career spanning over 20 years. They will both appear on Friday 27th August. A man of many talents, Australian born Tim Minchin will bring his unique brand of musical comedy to the Gilded Balloon. His first appearance here in 2005 was one of the most successful debut acts to appear at the Edinburgh Fringe bagging him a Perrier Award for Best Newcomer and a career that has since taken him all over the world. He will bring the final birthday show to a close on Sunday 29th August.
 
Also appearing over the weekend…Arthur Smith, Fred Macaulay, Stephen Frost, Stephen K Amos, Phil Jupitus, David O’Docherty, Adam Hills, Jason Byrne, Hattie Hayridge, Sean Hughes and other names to be announced!
 
Founded in 1986, the Gilded Balloon continues to be one of the Festivals biggest and best Fringe Festival hotspots. Over the years, Karen Koren, Artistic and Managing Director has earned a deep respect throughout the comedy and entertainment industry both in the UK and abroad. She is also well known for launching some of the most successful comedy careers in the UK today and as a result has ensured the ultimate line-up for these three special shows.
