Although it hosts dances and has a long association with stand-up comedy - the likes of Phil Kay and Fred MacAuly performed here when they were making a name for themselves - the Counting House is an impressive, but underused venue.
It has a large Ballroom and a smaller lounge venue. Two bars and an outdoor courtyard. It's adjacent to The Pear Tree pub, near the Pleasance Dome and the Teviot Union (Gilded Balloon).
The venue has been a mainstay of the Laughing Horse Free Fringe circuit for a number of years (though the Gilded Balloon had a stint at Fringe 2016 using a Pay What You Want entrance model).
