A one-woman dynamo, Lexi Wolfe is an extremely talented actor who has created innovative interpretations of Shakespearean characters, all from the perspective of looking back on their pasts. These are all recognisable, but Wolfe’s take on them stretches the boundaries and looks at their lives holistically.

There is little Shakespearean text per se, but it is all clearly inspired and extensively researched by that which has been written by the man himself.

The characters are engaging and draw you in, such that when the snippets of Shakespeare’s text come through, the audience gives a palpable sigh which ripples through the room.

The text is clear and uncomplicated, and yet full of detail. There is delicate nuance in how the stories unfold, with snippets being fed to the audience and then left to settle as the next piece of information unfolds. It takes a little time to get into the rhythm of what is going on for the audience, but this is a small quibble.

Wolfe’s acting is beautifully controlled, with the pacing and transitions very smooth, so logical that it is easy to forget that this text is not what Shakespeare wrote, but instead is inferred from it. No mean feat.

The costume changes are equally smooth and the transitions make use of the minimal costume to great effect. The journey of character changes flows with the changes feeling seamless.

This show is a timely reminder that there is still much that can be explored with Shakespeare. A must see – you will not be sorry.
