Work begins tomorrow on the £85m expansion space for the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and a separate Grade A office development. The build programme is due to take 30 months.

The EICC expects that its Expansion Space will reassert its claim to be "the world’s most technologically advanced events space". The development will also be the largest building project in Scotland through to opening in 2013.

Members of the partnership will attend the breaking ground ceremony at the Morrison Street site tomorrow morning, including City of Edinburgh Council Leader, Cllr Jenny Dawe;  Scottish Enterprise Director, Pamela Woodburn; EICC Chief Executive, Hans H Rissmann OBE; and Sir Robert McAlpine Director, Andrew McAlpine.
