Restaurant Martin Wishart
No restaurant guide would be complete without Martin Wishart's eponymous restaurant in Edinburgh’s historic Port of Leith. Since opening the restaurant in 1999, Wishart and his wife Cecile have maintained a focus on bringing traditional and modern French cuisine to Edinburgh, using the finest and freshest Scottish local ingredients.
Food critics have noticed: Wishart earning his first Michelin Star in 2001 and this has been confirmed every year since and been voted UK Chef of the year by the AA guide in September 2011 and had 8/10 in the good food guide.
Wishart, who is a regular at foodie event Taste of Edinburgh, has also opened his Cooks School, a second restaurant at Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomand, and in July 2011 opened up a brasserie on Castle Street in Edinburgh called The Honours.
