About the Area

Bruntsfield is a central area of Edinburgh, adjoining Morningside to the South, and Tollcross to the North.

It has many residential tenement buildings and plentiful amounts of bars of restaurants. Bruntsfield links is a popular place for pitch 'n' putt. The Links extend a good length of Bruntsfield road from The Meadows.

Bruntsfield's proximity to Edinburgh University campus and cultural attractions of Lothian Road make it a popular dorming area for students. It's also within easy reach of the Dominion Cinema in Morningside.

One of Edinburgh's most renowned novelists Muriel Spark (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie) was a Bruntsfield resident.

James Gillespie's High School is to the south of the district. 

The cluster of Victorian churches at the junction where Bruntsfield meets Burghmuirhead on the road to Morningside is referred to by locals as "Holy Corner".
