Last August's rockfest within a festival, T On the Fringe, is back this year under a different banner - The Edge. The programme, which was announced on Friday, features some 50 gigs taking place at several venues across town, ranging from the 250 capacity Cabaret Voltaire to the 2800 capacity Corn Exchange. The festival runs from 1-27 August, with tickets ranging in price from £6 to £17.50 (see full ticket and programme details).

"The Edge will deliver the best in
contemporary live music to an international audience and offer music lovers the
chance to sample gigs by artists from across a variety of genres -
everyone from Maximo Park to Pendulum and Michael Franti &
Spearhead
to Midnight Juggernaughts," says The Edge promoter Dave Corbet, promising announcements of additional acts in July to bring the number of gigs up to the 50 mark.

Highlights on
this year's bill include Scouting For Girls who will
kick off The Edge proceedings at the Corn Exchange, expected to delight
fans with a set list including top ten hits ‘She's So Lovely'
and ‘Elvis Ain't Dead.'

Angular indie favourites Maximo Park Apply Some Pressure' on 18 August and antipodean
multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd drops in on the Fringe on the 19th. Kate Nash has already won both the best Female Solo artist at the Brits this year, and
the NME's Best Female Solo Artist. You can see what the fuss is about at the Corn Exchange on 25 August.

Pendulum will play their biggest ever Scottish show to date at the Corn Exchange on 12
August. Famous now as a live act in their own right, Pendulum were previously
best known for their remixing skills with one of their most well known efforts
being The Prodigy's ‘Voodoo People'.

Sufjan
Stevens' close friends New Yorkers Clare & The Reasons will
make their Scottish debut at the festival and will be joined at Cabaret Voltaire throughout the month by the likes of The Presets and ex Josef K front man Paul Haig.

The walls of the Liquid Room will shake to the sounds of top talent including Mercury
Music Prize winner Dizzee Rascal, Digitalism and Deadmau5, who
will treat fans to a live set.

Scotland's New Musicians

The Edge will
also support Scotland's emerging talent with a special Your
Sound
night at the Liquid Room on 16 August. Your
Sound is an unsigned initiative run by King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and aims to identify the top independent talent in Scotland.

Celebrating the
flavour of the Edinburgh Fringe with a seven night run at St Cecilia's,
will be ex Throwing Muses front woman Kristin Hersh. Hersh's live spoken word project ‘Paradoxical Undressing' will incorporate film, music and essays and feature excerpts from her upcoming
memoir of the same name. A one off preview show will take place at Cabaret
Voltaire on 13 August to give fans a taster of this
unique performance.

The Edge gigs at Cabaret Voltaire are being brought to music fans this year in
association with 32 Music: a new grass-roots music campaign, sponsored by Scottish soft drink IRN-BRU 32.
